Standing Committees

Accident Prevention Committee
I
dentify and promote best practices as related to accident prevention, including safe working methods, resuscitation and fire protection. Maintain liaison with U.S. officials administering the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Administer annual safety award program.     MEMBERS ONLY SECTION

Accounting Committee

Study methods and procedures related to accounting and record keeping functions. Interpret and monitor the application of regulations and reports related to the Uniform System of Accounts. 

 

Communications Committee 

To work with the Association’s communications professionals in the development and coordination of communications projects designed to serve the best interest of the Pennsylvania energy utility industry and its customers; to cooperate with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the American Gas Association and the Edison Electric Institute in implementing mutually beneficial communications activities; and to provide, through regular meetings and other means, for the exchange of communications ideas and materials

Consumer Services Committee

Study and identify best practices related to all aspects of consumer services provided by member companies.     MEMBERS ONLY SECTION

Electric Legislative /Public Affairs Committee
Advise the Board and Executive Committee on relevant political, economic and social issues of concern to the Electric Association, its member companies and their customers; Study, discuss, recommend and with Executive Committee guidance, implement appropriate action in the area of governmental affairs.  

Electric Regulatory Committee
Address electric state regulatory issues and the coordination of company activities on generic issues; Coordinate, with appropriate industry approval, the development of comments on issues related to laws, regulations, policy statements, regulatory actions and practices.   

Electric Transmission & Distribution Committee
Identify and implement industry best practices related to the design, characteristics, disposition, use or operation and maintenance of overhead and underground transmission & distribution lines and associated equipment.    COMMITTEE WEB PAGE

Electrical Equipment & Protection Committee

Consider the design, development, application, characteristics, operation, maintenance, and testing of primary protection and control equipment for generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy.      COMMITTEE WEB PAGE

Environmental Committee

Study and evaluate federal, state and selected local environmental legislation and rulemaking; Advise management, other committees, and member companies of such effect and concerns; Communicate with government agencies and public on the effects of environmental policies and regulation on member companies; Develop positions and proposals for action to serve the needs of the Association and its members; Attempt to insure consistent and equitable administration of environmental regulation of electric and gas utilities.    

Gas Public Affairs Committee
Advise the Board and Executive Committee on relevant political, economic and social issues of concern to the Gas Association, its member companies and their customers; Study, discuss, recommend and with Executive Committee guidance, implement appropriate action in the area of governmental affairs.  

Gas Regulatory Matters

Advise the Association’s Board, Executive Committee, and other committees on the PA PUC, FERC and other municipal, state and federal agencies in all matters related to laws, rules and regulations, principles and practices pertaining to the gas industry in PA; and with guidance from the Board, to take action in regulatory areas as appropriate. 

Gas Transmission & Distribution Committee

Consider matters relating to design, construction, operation and maintenance of gas transmission and distribution facilities in Pennsylvania, including state and federal standards and regulations. Maintain liaison with state government agencies for the consideration of problems of mutual concern. Disseminate information for the instruction of gas industry personnel. Current Working Groups of the Committee include: Corrosion and Leakage; Field Services and Measurement; Gas Pipeline Integrity Management and Distribution Integrity Management; Pipeline Safety, Regulations and Public Awareness; Plastics; Operator Qualification and Mutual Aid.

Human Resources Committee

Study best practices of all aspects of the Human Resources function, including labor relations, employee benefits, personnel training and development, and wage and salary administration.  

Motor Transportation Committee

Study best practices related to the purchase, maintenance, and operation of all vehicles used by member companies.  Study and discuss transportation matters pertaining to catastrophes and emergencies insofar as the mutual aid and assistance which may be developed through utilities within the Commonwealth.  Explore key developments and use of electric and natural gas vehicles statewide.  

Taxation Committee
Study all phases of tax policies that affect the industry and makes appropriate recommendations.  

Vegetation Management & Forestry Committee

Discuss, study and review vegetation management research, and implement responsible practices with the ultimate goal of improving service, reliability and safety through the professional, cost-effective application of arboricultural techniques, sound environmental practices and other related activities.
