Newtown, PA - October 1, 2007 – Opvantek, Inc. is pleased to announce that, with the addition of new customers in the past 9 months, the Optimain® DS (Decision Support) product is now positioned to support Distribution Integrity Management across 15% of the nation’s natural gas distribution infrastructure.  Using data from the 2006 Annual DOT Reports, Opvantek has determined that current Optimain DS customers operate over 173,000 miles of distribution main, delivering gas to over 9.8 million services.  Both figures represent approximately 15% of the nationwide totals.

Optimain DS is being used by both large and small distribution operators, ranging from less than 120,000 services (Delmarva Power) to over 3 million services (CenterPoint Energy and NiSource).  Some customers operate in a single regulatory jurisdiction, while others operate across multiple states.  In all cases, the product can be used to analyze risk and identify economic investment opportunities for all types of metallic and plastic piping, including both main and service pipes.  It supports various critical business processes, including pipe replacement decisions, capital allocation based on risk and economic return, and third party construction coordination.  It is also fully aligned with the anticipated federal Distribution Integrity Management regulations. Optimain DS can be integrated with enterprise GIS platforms such as ESRI’s ArcGIS® or General Electric’s Smallworld Core Spatial Technology to acquire asset attributes and risk factors. It can also acquire or receive data from relational or mainframe data sources such as Oracle, SAP, Logica WMIS, or IBM Maximo. In addition, Optimain DS evaluation projects can be displayed on the company’s current asset maps (on most leading GIS or CAD formats).
